Out With The Old; In With The Brew!

A festive group of HopAholics gathered to celebrate the just passed holiday season on January 11, once again graciously hosted by the Gerties.  A great time has had by all!

The Club provided an excellent baked ham and members brought a variety of tasty items to accompany the homebrew and other libations that Bob G had on hand.  The Titans-Ravens playoff game in the background added to the special evening.

Preparing for the Competition

The annual Winter Homebrew Competition also took place, with ten “holiday style” beers up for consideration.  The selection leaned heavily toward stouts and Scottish ales, and bourbon flavoring was also prominent.

The winners:  First Place – Jeremy Williams (Imperial Whiskey Stout); Second Place – Mike Henderson and Dale Goulette (MD’s Strong Ale); and Third Place – Mike McCoulif (Barrel Coffee Stout).

The White Elephant Gift Exchange provided some excitement, as usual.  For the first time in recent memory, there were no “steals” as everyone was quite happy with their blind selections.

Thanks to the Gerties for inviting everyone into their home to celebrate another successful year of the Parker HopAholics!

The New Year will get off to a roaring start with the first monthly club meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, February 25 at the Honnibrook Craft Meadery in Castle Rock (click for a map).

A follow up email or two will be sent to our newly found friends who signed up for club news during the past summer and fall.  This would be a great time to begin a serious relationship with the HopAholics and jump start your homebrewing program in 2020!
