Elizabeth Celtic Festival Homebrew Competition


ANNOUNCING OUR PREMIERE HOMEBREW COMPETITION!

The Parker Hopaholics Homebrew Club will be holding an AHA sanctioned, BJCP homebrew competition in conjunction with the 2018 Elizabeth Celtic Festival, scheduled for July 21-22, 2018 in Elizabeth, Colorado.

Now in its 26th year, the Elizabeth Celtic Festival is the longest running Celtic festival and Highland Games venue in the metro Denver area.  A large variety of Scottish and Irish themed events and activities including Celtic music, Highland dancing, traditional foods, artisans, fun contests, and of course Celtic athletic demonstrations. Certainly makes for an enjoyable weekend for all!

AND…the Parker Hopaholics will add another dimension to this already great event….

Here’s what you need to know….


Registration

Entry Registration Opens May 19, 2018 and continues through July 7.  Check specifics at https://reggiebeer.com/ReggieEntry.php?CompetitionID=TVRJPZ1000355

Entries are $7.00 each.  Each person submitting an entry will receive two (2) tickets to the Elizabeth Celtic Festival AND an optional $15.00 reduced membership fee for one year to the Parker Hopaholics Homebrew Club.

 


Drop Off Locations
Entry bottles will be accepted from June 23 through July 15, 2018 at the following drop-off locations:Castle Rock Home Brew – http://castlerockhomebrew.com and The Brew Hut – https://thebrewhut.com. Date and times for drop-off and shipping beers are strict and cannot be received before or after the stated times for each location. Entries will be held in cold storage at the drop off locations. All entries will be picked up from the drop-off locations the day of the drop-off deadline.

Judging Location and Date

All qualifying entries will be judged at The Brew Hut on July 20, 2018, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

 


Entry RulesThis is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition for all 2015 BJCP beer categories.  The competition is open to any amateur homebrewer 21 years of age or older.  All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).Entries will be judged under the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.Entrants must submit 2 crown-capped 12 oz. bottles with a completed BJCP bottle ID label attached with a rubber band. Do not tape or glue labels onto the bottle.  Any colored glass is acceptable. Bottle labels will be generated by the registration system and can be printed out after registration is complete. An entry form generated by the registration system must also be included with entries. Fees are $7 per entry with a limit of 3 entries per individual.  You must pay via the competition website linked to PayPal.  Entries are not complete until payment is received.It is the entrant’s responsibility to enter their beer in the proper category, as specified in the 2015 BJCP guidelines. Entries in some styles and substyles need to specify special ingredients and/or substyle characteristics (Saison strength, IPA specialty type, etc.)  Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once.The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles and substyles into categories for judging and award purposes.  All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles.  Each entry in combined styles will be judged according to the originally entered style.  Bottles will not be returned to entrants.

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.

The Best of Show will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.


Awards and PrizesPrizes will be awarded to the Best of Show winner and second and third place for Best of Show. The Best of Show recipient will also receive the opportunity to commercially brew the Best of Show entry with the brewers at 105West Brewing Company of Castle Rock.Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third place in each judged category (not each beer style).Awards CeremonyAn Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 22 during the Elizabeth Celtic Festival.  Specific prizes will be announced in the near future.

Results and Scoresheets

Competition results and score sheets will be available online at the conclusion of the competition.  Score sheets are not sent to entrants and are available online only.
